Review:

A neo-soul and dream pop record that has you believing in love again. Kali Uchis comes back with her fifth studio album that transports you to a world of dreams and love. Taking inspiration from retro doo-wop ballads of the past, romantic and snazzy jazz, and modern-day R&B, rock, and pop, SIncerely, doesn’t only feel like a love letter to Kali’s lover (who is Don Toliver which I can’t comprehend) but a love letter to the music that came before it. The production is a retro futuristic culmination of imaginative dreamscapes

Track List:

Comments are live reactions.

  1. Heaven is a Home…

I LOVE THE CHORD PROGRESSIONS AND THE MELODIES!!!

The buildup to the chorus is angelic and beautifully stunning. This heavenly and explosive chorus has me gagged. THE ENDING CHORD PROGRESSION OF THE CHORUS!!!!

I love me a IV → iv → I with all my being.

What an eargasmic intro to this albim. I’m sat.

  2. Sugar! Honey! Love!

    THE TRANSITION!!!

A ballad R&B song with a captivating melody that is assisted with Kali’s siren-esque voice.

While I do like “Heaven is a Home…” a bit more, this is already becoming a legendary run and I can’t wait to see what more she does.

  3. Lose My Cool,

I love the retro love ballad atmosphere that Kali Uchis is building on this record.

The second half of the song really sells the romantic atmosphere of this record.

Although the song does stretches itself very long, the song itself is beautiful and adds onto the beautiful and mesmerizing world of Sincerely,

  4. It’s Just Us

OOOO THAT TRANSITION!!!! The instrumentals gives a Submarine by The Marias vibe.

    Added.

  5. For: You

I LOVE THIS SONG HANDS DOWN!!! I was spoiled this song by my Spotify recommended shuffle and I’m glad they did. With a dream-pop atmosphere supported by Kali’s delivery, tone, and art direction, the production’s dream pop atmosphere, the melody of the synth in the chorus, and the Cigarettes After Sex inspiration.

  6. Silk Lingerie,

I love the choice to use a minor key to exude the yearnful devotion of this song. The lyrics talk about how Kali’s perfect lover has fallen in love with her— “someone complicated and flawed” as Kali.

  7. Territorial

The intro feels like the start to a bowlero. Let’s see if it is a bowlero.

The song is a melancholic and dramatic jazz song that feels reminisent to Born To Die by Lana Del Rey except even more polished; it’s giving “Million Dollar Man”.

The melody and the delivery of the pre-chorus feels hypnotic and almost follows that formulaic buildup that many musicals have.

  8. Fall Apart,

Kali amps up the tempo a little with a snazzy drum beat and with staticy guitars and bass.

  9. All I Can Say^

From the first 10 seconds alone I can tell why this song was chosen as a single to coincide with the release of the album. The retro love doo-bop production that encapsulates the dreaminess and love poured into the record supported by Kali Uchi’s romantic and devoted lyrics.

  10. Daggers!

At this point, I am hoping for some type of switch up or diversity in production but my personal feelings aside, this is a solid song.

  11. Angels All Around Me…

The indie rock feel in the verse? It’s cute and shakes up what has been a pretty contained album.

    I spaced out no lie.

  12. Breeze!

    The choir, MUAH!
